Welcome to NY-CHAPPA v2.0, the Community Health and Air Pollution Policy Assessment tool. NY-CHAPPA v2.0 can be used to analyze the air quality and public health impacts of changes in air pollutant emissions, such as from proposed energy and environmental policies in New York State. NY-CHAPPA v2.0 models changes in fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations, changes in health outcomes, and the monetized value of those outcomes in each of eight New York regions shown below. The results are presented at a highly resolved census tract resolution, which allows users to determine the fraction of health benefits accruing to disadvantaged communities, using the definitions from New York's Climate Justice Working Group.
NY-CHAPPA v2.0 was used for the public health analysis of the 2025 New York State Energy Plan. The emissions scenarios analyzed for the State Energy Plan are available for users on the Reference and Scenario Emissions Inputs pages.
Data Retention: As part of our data management and clean-up policy, all results generated from your NY-CHAPPA v2.0 scenario will be kept for 7 days. After this period, the results will be removed. We encourage you to download your results while they are available.
